October 2018 Ministerial Candidacy Declarations

Hello. I am here to announce my candidacy for Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Versutian Federation. I previously served in this position from December of 2017 to January of 2018. During my tenure, I experienced many things both good and bad. The good things (keeping relations with our closest regions alive, my professionalism and accountability in the face of criticism and skepticism, and more) really inspired me to continue to serve within the world of regional politics. The bad things, however, mainly revolved around the immense harsh criticism I received during this time which eventually prompted me to resign. This does not mean that I have not learned from my past mistakes, nor does it mean that I am not prepared to serve in this extremely important position. I have donated a large amount of my time to this Ministry in the past, both as an officer and an ambassador, trying to be as professional as possible. I feel that the Ministry needs a proper push in the light of recent events. We need more activity surrounding our Minister and an active ambassadorial program. Although I have no qualms with the incumbent Minister, nevertheless, I feel that they have not been active, which is something we really need. In short, these are the goals that I want accomplished during my time as the next Minister of Foreign Affairs:
-Frequent ambassadorial reports (whether that’d be weekly or twice a month)
-A list in which potential embassies will be researched by the MoFA, Deputy, and ambassadors to ensure that they can be potential allies
-A public response to every embassy request from a region
-More weekly announcements and reminders from the Ministry
-Greater communication with our embassy regions
I see no reason why these reforms cannot be put into place for this esteemed Ministry. As you can see, my knowledge of foreign affairs, as well as my care and appreciation for our region’s good name abroad, make me an excellent candidate for this position. I am not stranger to being in other regional discords and getting to know the people within it. Creating and maintaining relationships with our allies is crucial for the survival of our region. I have served within this position before and even in the face of adversity, I have always tried to not only be professional, but willing to discuss whatever needed to be discussed with our allies. As an ambassador, I have always considered myself more than just a diplomat from another region. Rather, I considered myself a part of the allied region’s community, who has deep bonds and friendships with the people within it. This way of thinking needs to be extended to all of our ambassadors, no matter how big or small the region is in question. Again, to keep this short, I feel that my experience and knowledge of foreign affairs will aid me in my efforts of representing my region to others. We need activity back within this Ministry, and we need the good name of the Versutian Federation spread to more friendly regions across the world of NationStates.
